UFC president Dana White has been talking about an October event in the UK for a while now, and there is even an unofficial main event in place for the event. It's set to go down in Manchester on October 26th, headlined by Michael Bisping vs. Mark Munoz. It was thought to be a done deal and ready to go.
Well, not so fast.
A statement was made on the UFC's official UK Facebook page today, saying that the event has not been finalized yet:
UFC fans! We are aware that a large number of you are asking about a possible Manchester event for October 26 this year, however we are not yet able to confirm that we are heading back to one of Britain's most famous cities due to the many factors involved in hosting such a huge event.
We are working hard to bring the UK a card of real significance and if we are able to make this happen it would be the event of the year in Europe. Your need to book transport, tickets and accommodation in advance is appreciated and as soon as we can confirm anything, we will let you know.
There has been no mention made of what the holdup is. The show was scheduled to take place in Manchester Arena and would likely air on Fox Sports 1. I guess we'll just have to wait and see if they can book the show as planned, of if Bisping vs. Munoz gets moved to another card instead.
