You want more injury news? I have more injury news. Former Strikeforce lightweight Isaac Vallie-Flagg was looking for a 2-0 start to his UFC career against Sam Stout on June 15th, but a back injury has forced Vallie-Flagg out of the UFC 161 bout. Replacing him, and perhaps making a long overdue UFC debut, is RFA veteran James Krause. UFC Canada tweeted confirmation of this news today:
Krause (19-4) didn't exactly pan out in the WEC, losing to Donald Cerrone and Ricardo Lamas before his release, but he's won 9 of his last 11 fights, including 7 in a row dating back to late 2011. His recent fights have taken place under the Resurrection Fighting Alliance banner, earning notable wins over Toby Imada (a rematch of their Bellator encounter, which Imada won by armbar) and Joe Jordan. Krause did attempt to make it into the UFC via TUF 15, but he was eliminated in the season premiere by TKO against Justin Lawrence. He's asked for a shot at the UFC since submitting Jordan, and now his wish is granted.
Stout vs. Krause is expected to air on the FX preliminary card.
