Is he being honest or is this just another angle? Chael Sonnen is now stating that the time has passed for a possible bout with Wanderlei Silva. The bout, rumored to be the main event of UFC's first Fox Sports event in Boston later in the year, might or might not be a legitimate option for the UFC. But Sonnen stated in an interview with MMA Heat's Karyn Bryant that he's not interested anymore:
"I'm not looking for it anymore, I don't like to bully guys. I tried to fight him, he doesn't want to fight. I'm not gonna stick a finger in a guy's chest. If a guy says 'no,' I'm not gonna be a jerk about it."
Silva claimed last week that the UFC hasn't offered him the bout, but he is also the guy that played an elaborate April Fools prank on fans, media, and Gegard Mousasi last month. They're both good at playing games, so it could just be another way to toy with some emotions.
I think the bout will happen, and it will happen in Boston. And it should be pretty entertaining.
