UFC on FX 8 was filled with great finishes, back-and-forth action, and it culminated in a memorable spinning kick KO victory for Vitor Belfort against Luke Rockhold in the main event. To no one's surprise, he also wins "Knockout of the Night". Here's a full rundown of the evening's $50,000 bonus recipients:
- Fight of the Night - Lucas Martins def. Jeremy Larsen via KO (punches), round 3.
- Knockout of the Night - Vitor Belfort def. Luke Rockhold via spinning kick and punches, round 1.
- Submission of the Night - Ronaldo Souza def. Chris Camozzi via arm-triangle choke, round 1.
Here are some facts on all three awards:
- Vitor Belfort returned to the UFC in 2009, and has won 4 of his fights by KO. All of his KO victories have also earned KOTN honors. It's also the first time any UFC fighter has scored consecutive head kick KO wins.
- Chris Camozzi has been submitted twice in the UFC (the other came vs. Kyle Noke), and both times he's been on the wrong end of a SOTN bonus.
- This is the 3rd time in the past month that the FOTN has ended in a 3rd round finish. Miesha Tate/Cat Zingano and Pat Healy/Jim Miller also ended in the 3rd.
