Bellator featherweight champion Pat Curran has already taken out two title challengers this year and was looking to add a third to the list this summer. Unfortunately that's not going to happen, so Curran will face a different challenge instead - he'll make his pro boxing debut. Curran was supposed to meet Daniel Straus, but an injury and some legal issues mean that will probably have to wait until the fall. He talked to MMA Junkie about and how the whole boxing thing will work:
"They're letting me stay active, and this is something I really wanted to do. They're giving me the opportunity to go for it. We're waiting on an opponent right now, but I want to stay active, I want to keep training, and since I'm going to have a little bit of a layoff, I want to jump into boxing and try that out."

"Bellator's cool with it – they're letting me step away from MMA and make my boxing debut, and that says a lot for them."
No date has been announced for the bout, which will be at the professional level, but he thinks it will take place in Chicago in the summer sometime. The only champion confirmed to make a title defense in Bellator's Summer Series so far is Michael Chandler, who will meet Dave Jansen at Bellator 96 on June 19th.
