The ratings are in for last Saturday's TUF 17 Finale from Las Vegas, and they look quite impressive. The FX broadcast reportedly pulled in a little over 1.7 million viewers. MMA Junkie's John Morgan tweeted out the news earlier today:
These numbers are consistent with the uptick in UFC on FX ratings. UFC on FX 7 in January nearly reached 2 million viewers and stands as the the highest rated UFC broadcast on the channel. The TUF 15 and TUF 16 live finales, both broadcast on a Saturday night 9 PM timeslot, averaged 1.0 and 1.3 million viewers respectively.
Morgan also reported that the card also was the highest rated cable program among 18-49 male viewers. There was definitely some interest leading to this event, particularly the Uriah Hall hype as well as the #1 contender fight between Miesha Tate and Cat Zingano. It would've been interesting to see how the ratings would've fared had the original main event of Demetrious Johnson and John Moraga not been scrapped due to Johnson's injury.
TUF 18, coached by Cat Zingano and Ronda Rousey, airs on Wednesday, September 4th at 10 PM ET on the new Fox Sports 1 channel.
