Headlining Saturday night's The Ultimate Fighter 17 Finale, Urijah Faber scored a fourth round submission victory over Scott Jorgensen with a rear naked choke. The win popped Faber up to 4-2 in the UFC, with his only losses coming in title fights. Jorgensen dropped to 3-3. He's proven to be a step above most other Bantamweights, but struggles against the top tier of the division.
What was the high point of the fight?
Faber looked incredible in the finishing sequence. He seemed to be falling behind in the fight. He was slower to get off with his strikes and was mostly defensive. Then he hit the takedown and almost immediately had Scott defending the choke. Great rally by Faber.
Where do they go from here?
The only fights Faber has lost in the UFC are to the two current Bantamweight champions. His win over Jorgensen would qualify him for another title shot under most normal circumstances, but nobody wants to see that after UFC 149. Instead, he should face the loser of Barao/Wineland.
There's no doubt that Jorgensen is still one of the most talented Bantamweights employed by the UFC. Unfortunately for him, he's proven that his talent falls just below the elite-level of the division.
Watch it now, later, or never?
As a whole, the fight wasn't the best. The action slowed between the second and third rounds. However, the finish is more than worth watching at any time.
