According to Latino Review, UFC Welterweight champ Georges St. Pierre has been case in an upcoming Marvel Comics film Captain America: Winter Soldier. GSP is slated to play Batroc the Leaper, a Jack Kirby-era villain who specializes in the French kickboxing style of Savate. From L-R:
Batroc has no superhuman abilities, but is in peak physical condition in every respect. He is an Olympic-level weightlifter and has extraordinary agility and reflexes. His leg muscles are particularly well-developed which enables him to leap great distances with the strength of an Olympic athlete. He is an expert hand-to-hand combatant and specializes in savate (French-style kickboxing). He is also a skilled military tactician, having formerly been in the French Foreign Legion.
Batroc is an experienced thief and smuggler, who also speaks French and English. Although, as a mercenary, he does not hesitate to perform any number of criminal acts for his clients, Batroc has, by his own rights, a strong sense of honor, and he will turn against any client whom he feels has unfairly deceived him into committing crimes to which he might not otherwise have agreed.
MMA Mania has more on GSP's budding acting career:
(GSP's) acting resume includes three low-budget, straight-to-DVD films titled "Death Warrior," "Hell's Chain" and "Never Surrender." His head trainer, Firas Zahabi, first teased St. Pierre's involvement in a movie last week on "The MMA Hour," but said he was sworn to secrecy.
"Rush" will join some of Tinseltown's finest on this ambitious project, which is scheduled to be released on April 4, 2014, such as Samuel L. Jackson, Chris Evans, Robert Redford and Scarlett Johansson among others.
We've seen Hollywood cause friction for the UFC and its fighters in the past when Quinton "Rampage" Jackson starred in the A-Team and had to delay a much-anticipated bout with Rashad Evans for several months. Hopefully GSP and his team will keep Dana White and the UFC in the loop better than Rampage did.
