Roland Delorme vs. Edwin Figueroa added to UFC 161

UFC 161 has rapidly filled up its bout lineup, and it added an 11th fight last night for June 15th. Roland Delorme will fight Edwin Figueroa in Winnipeg in a bantamweight showdown. The UFC's Canadian twitter account confirmed the booking:

Delorme (8-1, 1 NC) is technically undefeated in the UFC at 2-0, 1 NC. The Canadian fought the hard-punching Francisco Rivera at UFC 149, and he was frequently hit hard and ultimately knocked out. However, Rivera failed his drug test and that resulted in a no-contest. Delorme, at TUF 15 alum, won his previous two fights in the UFC over Josh Ferguson and Nick Denis.

Figueroa (9-2) is 2-2 in the UFC, with a FOTN performance (but a decision loss) against Michael McDonald in his UFC debut. For taking on such a tough opponent on short-notice, he was rewarded by sending Jason Reinhardt out of the UFC. He made it two wins in a row with a close split-decision win over Alex Caceres, a fight notable for Herb Dean deducting two points from Caceres for kicks to the groin. After an injury setback, Figueroa fought Francisco Rivera at UFC 156, losing by TKO in the 2nd round. Unfortunately for him, Rivera passed his drug test this time, so that loss won't come off of his record.

UFC 161 is headlined by Renan Barao's interim bantamweight title defense against Eddie Wineland. Expect Delorme/Figueroa to be on the preliminary card.
