In addition to the Tuesday night announcement of Chris Leben versus Andrew Craig, MMA Junkie confirmed welterweight Seth Baczynski will fight the debuting Brian Melancon on the UFC 162 preliminary card.
Baczynski (18-9 MMA, 4-2 UFC) is a TUF 11 alum coming off a loss to Mike Pierce at UFC on FX 6 in Australia. That snapped a four-fight win streak, which included a KO win over Simeon Thoresen at UFC 152. His only other UFC loss was to Brad Tavares at middleweight, which prompted his release, but all of his subsequent UFC fights have taken place at 170 lbs.
Melancon (6-2 MMA, 0-0 UFC) had his last two fights in Strikeforce, so presumably his contract with them was picked up by the UFC. He went 1-1 in SF, with a win over Felipe Portela and a loss to Isaac Vallie-Flagg.
UFC 162 is slated for July 6th in Las Vegas, as Anderson Silva defends his MW title against Chris Weidman.
