UFC middleweight Nick Ring suffered his second straight defeat when he dropped a unanimous decision to Caio Maghalhaes on the preliminary card of UFC Fight Night 33 over the weekend. It appears that Ring suffered a bad injury that ruined his chances of winning the fight though. Ring detailed the injury on his Facebook page:
Unfortunate result for me in today's performance... I felt good in the fight until the 2nd round when I tore my ACL and my meniscus...
From that point on I had to fight to keep it on the ground rather than risk being on my feet...
It was a s**tty decision for me to have to make but I knew i was f**ked at that point and I wanted to finish the fight rather than have my leg give out again and take a TKO...
Sorry to my fans and to my loved ones for letting you down, it was a s**tty way to have to go out but I'm glad I fought to the end of the match...
Ring has dealt with knee injuries throughout his career, including a point pre-UFC where he was out of action for over two years. He has had a total of three ACL reconstruction surgeries already. It looks like he's going to be out of action again for a while, which is unfortunate.
