If there was ever a fight that felt like it actually happened in the WEC, it's this one. Nevertheless, it will be part of the UFC on Fox 10 broadcast, as former WEC bantamweight champion Eddie Wineland battles Yves Jabouin on January 25th. The Chicago Sun-Times first broke news of this bout.
Wineland (20-9-1) is coming off a TKO loss to Renan Barao for the interim title at UFC 165. Barao knocked him down with a spinning back kick to the head, and Barao immediately finished him with punches on the ground. It marked Wineland's first ever stoppage loss due to strikes. Before the Barao defeat he defeated Brad Pickett and knocked out Scott Jorgensen to earn a title shot.
Jabouin (19-8) won a close split decision over Dustin Pague at UFC 161, giving him 4 wins in his last 5 with 3 of them coming by split decision. His only loss at bantamweight came via 1st round KO at the hands of Brad Pickett at UFC on Fuel 5.
UFC on Fox 10 is headlined by a lightweight bout between former WEC and UFC champion Ben Henderson and ex-Strikeforce champion Josh Thomson. Gabriel Gonzaga versus Stipe Miocic is the night's co-main event from Chicago, Illinois.
