Former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva gets the chance to regain his belt when he takes on the man that defeated him, Chris Weidman in a rematch at UFC 168. The first bout at UFC 162 saw Silva get knocked out for the first time in the UFC, but he told Sportv (via MMA Fighting) that the mistakes he made in the bout were simple:
"My mistakes in that fight, and that’s the first time I’m saying this, were basic mistakes. I did everything I had to do except hit him. I didn’t counterattack. When I stopped with my feet parallel, I should have hit him and walked one step behind. I didn’t do that. I saw my mistakes and I’m working on that to train for this next fight."
He also said that if it's on the feet, the rematch isn't going the distance. And that the upcoming bout is very important:
"It’s going to be a tough fight, and it won’t last too long if it stays standing."
UFC 168 goes down on December 28th in Las Vegas.
