Hold your horses, UFC fans. All the people that were amped up for the big lightweight bout between Gilbert Melendez and Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 170 were brought back down to earth by UFC president Dana White, who tweeted that the bout still wasn't official despite it being announced last week on UFC Tonight. Here's the tweet from the boss regarding it:
It looks like the UFC PR people jumped the gun on this too. A tweet from Bleacher Report's Jeremy Botter shows the official UFC 170 poster, which lists the fight:
Oops. I wonder what side is holding this up, as Dana had previously stated that one of the two sides had already agreed to the bout a while ago. Either way, I hope they can work out this snafu and get the fight booked, because it's undoubtedly one of the best lightweight fights booked for early 2014.
