I wrote a post a couple of weeks ago complaining about the current UFC rankings. I am a panelist myself, and while I'm sure there are a lot of intelligent and relevant members of the group, it's pretty clear that some other ones don't have a clue what they're doing.
Case in point - at UFC 167, Robbie Lawler put a whooping on Rory MacDonald and beat him by decision. This moved Lawler (rightfully) above MacDonald in the standings in the number three spot.
This week? Not so much.
The rankings were updated after the TUF 18 Finale, and MacDonald has claimed back the number three spot at welterweight, bumping Lawler to fourth. Yeah. There's no other word to describe that but dumb. Dumb dumb dumb.
You can check out the full rankings here, and use the dropdown menu to see the individual picks of the five BE contributors (myself, T.P. Grant, Chris Hall, Fraser Coffeen, and Stephie Daniels).
In other news, one division was affected by the outcomes on TUF 18 Finale fights. Nate Diaz moved up three spots to five at lightweight, while Gray Maynard fell three to the number eight spot.
In the women's 135-pound division, Alexis Davis moved up to number three, passing Sara McMann. Jessica Andrade and Germaine de Randamie also flip-flopped the nine and ten spots. Martin Kampmann and Matt Brown also switched the eight and nine spots at welterweight for some reason.
I'm still annoyed by the MacDonald thing.
