Tim Kennedy was in the main event of UFC Fight for the Troops 3 so he could entertain his fellow soldiers. And he definitely accomplished his goal. The former military member ate a few shots from opponent Rafael Natal over the course of the first round but only needed one to win the fight - a left hook that put Natal out and gave Kennedy the knockout victory. The finish came at 4:40 of round 1. It was actually ruled a TKO somehow, but Natal was on dream street.
There were kicks aplenty to open the fight, and Natale managed to score a few times with punches as well. Kennedy was missing a lot. Natal chopped Kennedy down with a kick but he popped right back up. Kennedy came back with a big body kick. Natal was probably getting the best of the round, but out of nowhere Kennedy clipped him with a leaping left hook and Sapo collapsed to the mat. Kennedy went in a finished the job as the crowd absolutely erupted.
The win improved Kennedy's UFC record to 2-0, while Natal had his three-fight winning streak brought to a halt.
