Former Pride and Dream fighter Tatsuya Kawajiri will make his UFC debut early next year. This much we knew. What we didn't know up until now is who he would be facing in his first bout in the octagon. According to a report from Fight Sport Asia, the opponent will be Hacran Dias in Singapore:
The T-Blood affiliate will face off against Nova Uniao’s Hacran Dias January 4th in Singapore.
A source close to Kawajiri’s camp confirmed the news with FSA earlier today.
Kawajiri (32-7-2) is 4-0 since his drop to featherweight in 2011, and has won five in a row overall. The last win came over Michihiro Omigawa in December 2012. Dias (21-2-1) is 1-1 in the UFC thus far, defeating Yuri Alcantara in his debut but dropping a decision to Nik Lentz last time out.
The bout will likely take place on the main card. The expected main event of the January 4th event in the Marina Bay Sands Resort and Casino will see Jake Ellenberger taking on the last Strikeforce welterweight champion Tarec Saffiedine.
