Gennady Golovkin def. Curtis Stevens by TKO round 8 3:00
Fans came to see Gennady Golovkin unleash his power, and though it may have taken longer than expected, they were not disappointed. Golovkin vs Stevens was a surprisingly close fight at times, as the underdog Stevens managed to stay in it for some time. But as the fight moved into the later rounds and Gennady Golovkin kept up the pressure, Stevens struggled to keep up. Golovkin dropped him in round 2 with a left hook. After that, he used his jab to keep Stevens on the defense and to set up his own power punches. By the end of round 8, Stevens had taken too much punishment. The referee waved the fight off after 8, keeping Golovkin's undefeated record intact. Overall, it was a good fight, and another strong performance from Golovkin.
