UFC welterweight Rick Story has had a pretty rough schedule in the UFC over the last three years, and his uneven record shows that he's been matched up with a lot of tough guys. The man who handed Johny Hendricks his first loss went out and picked up a big win over Brian Ebersole at UFC 167, and now believes that he should be getting top ten opponents once again. He said as much to MMA Junkie Radio in a recent appearance:
"I want to fight anyone in the top-10. I just want to get back in the top-10 of the world."
Another welterweight made a big splash on Saturday night in Vegas - Tyron Woodley. Woodley knocked out Josh Koscheck on the main card to improve to 2-1 in the organization and has finished both his wins. Story said he would take that fight if offered, but he's more interested in a ranked opponent:
"I'd fight Woodley," Story said. "I just care to fight someone in the top-10."
He also added that he believed he suffered an injury in the win over Ebersole:
"I believe I tore my bicep in the first round with one of the body shots.I have to get my arm checked out by the doctor but then I'll go ahead and start training and get prepared then to get a fight."
If his bicep is actually torn, that could actually put him out for a while. But he doesn't seem to see it that way. Either way, he re-iterated his stance on his next bout - shoot for the stars.
"It doesn't really matter (who I fight next). Top-10 is top-10."
