Fight fans can expect a busy start to the new year for the UFC. They'll be traveling to Singapore to start 2014, ending January with a Fox-televised card in Chicago, and sandwiched in between is a just announced trip to Atlanta on January 15th. The UFC revealed both the venue location and two fights already confirmed for the show:
UFC officials today announced that the organization will return to the Atlanta area with a fight card booked for Wednesday, January 15 at Duluth's Arena at Gwinnett Center.
Two fights are already set for the date, with Georgia's own Cole Miller facing Sam Sicilia. Both are coming off recent and impressive victories in the featherweight division and have verbally agreed to the matchup. Plus, powerful bantamweights TJ Dillashaw and Mike Easton will meet in a finishers' faceoff.
Miller (20-8) recorded a unanimous decision win over Andy Ogle at UFC Fight Night 30 in Manchester, giving him just his 2nd win in his last 5 fights (all at featherweight). Sicilia (12-3) KO'd Godofredo Pepey from Pepey's open guard in Goiania last week, which ended his two fight losing skid.
Dillashaw (8-2) dropped a split decision to Raphael Assuncao in October, snapping his four fight win streak. The Team Alpha Male bantamweight did pick up a FOTN bonus for his efforts. Easton (13-3), who also has a loss to Assuncao, lost a FOTN split decision to Brad Pickett in his last bout in April. The 29-year-old has dropped two straight following a 3-0 start to his UFC career.
Tickets for this event go on sale December 6th, so expect a few more "main card caliber" fights to be announced soon.
