A couple of days ago, I passed along a poll result from Brazilian website PVT that named Fedor Emelianenko as the greatest fighter of all time. This inspired me to create our own poll to see how BE would vote. And the results weren't really all that much different. According to vast majority of Bloody Elbow readers, Fedor is definitely the GOAT. Here's what you had to say:
Fedor Emelianenko 1753 votes (62.4%)
Anderson Silva 807 votes (28.7%)
Georges St. Pierre 69 votes (2.5%)
Dan Henderson 52 votes (1.9%)
Jon Jones 36 votes (1.3%)
Other 29 votes (1.0%)
Randy Couture 26 votes (0.9%)
Royce Gracie 21 votes (0.7%)
Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira 16 votes (0.6%)
Others named in the comments included Matt Hughes, Kazushi Sakuraba, Rickson Gracie, and Wanderlei Silva. Anderson did a lot better than he did in the PVT poll (where he only got 12% of the vote), which was to be expected. I think it's pretty crazy that no one else got more than 2.5% of the vote though, and that Jon Jones only got 36 votes. Hey, I don't think he's even close to being the GOAT yet, but I hear that sentiment from a small segment of fans all the time.
So there you have it. The Last Emperor reigns supreme on Bloody Elbow.
