Gladiator Challenge 42, September 10th, 2005 - An 8-0 upstart named Urijah Faber stepped into the cage against rookie Tyson Griffin, just 2-0 at the time. Faber was the King of the Cage bantamweight champion and was already a noted prospect. Griffin was a relative unknown. About a second into round 3, Griffin dropped Faber with a straight right and pounded him out at the five second mark. It was Faber's first loss in MMA.
Fast-forward to today. Faber, a former WEC champion and one of the most recognizable faces in the UFC, was a guest on Joe Rogan's podcast and was discussing the fight. Griffin, who was released by the UFC last year and now fights for the RFA, apparently wasn't happy with what Faber had to say:
Faber responded by apparently mocking a recent Griffin tweet:
And the race was on. Sort of.
After telling a follower that he had "the truth" (a unedited tape of the fight), he responded to Faber:
And Faber fired back:
Faber then corrected his "could" to a "couldn't". That seemed to get Griffin's attention, who then went on the defensive and complimented Faber:
All's well that ends well, I guess.
