Two fights, two quick finishes. In the second bout of UFC 152, Mitch Gagnon overcame a big height and reach disadvantage to knock down and eventually submit Walel Watson. The end came just 1:09 into the first round, and was Gagnon's first win in the octagon.
After a quick feeling-out process where Gagnon looked to get inside on Watson's big reach advantage, Gagnon countered a Watson superman punch attempt with a perfect left counter that dropped the taller fighter. After trying to pound him out for a few seconds, Gagnon jumped on Watson's back and sunk a choke. He had to change his grip a couple of times, but he eventually elicited the tap.
Watson rebounded from a submission loss to Bryan Caraway in his UFC debut at UFC 149, while Watson dropped his third fight in a row and will likely be receiving his walking papers from the organization.
