I don't think anyone would be surprised at the fact that Strikeforce lightweight champion Gilbert Melendez would be the betting favorite for his September 29th title defense against Pat Healy in Sacramento. But this is one seriously lopsided line. Check it out (via BestFightOdds):

Melendez (21-2) is coming off an extremely close win over Josh Thomson in May, while Healy (28-16) is coming off his own disputed win over Mizuto Hirota in July. Healy is widely viewed as a bit of a lameduck challenger and Melendez is likely better than him everywhere, but some sites have Melendez as high as -1400. I understand that a line like that is likely necessary to get anyone to bet on the fight, but I'm still a bit surprised. I'm not saying that a bet on Healy makes sense on any level though. Tread lightly here.
