Reports are surfacing that UFC Flyweight Ian McCall was arrested Tuesday August 14th in Irvine, California. The 125 lb. fighter has a history of drug abuse that he has been very forthcoming with during his UFC tenure. Unfortunately, it looks like his past has come back to haunt him.
MMA Fighting has more on the story:
According to the report, McCall, 28, was arrested "without incident for two Harbor Court warrants for possession of narcotic paraphernalia, possession of prescription meds without a valid prescription, and driving on a suspended license."
A LBPD official said that McCall is "no longer in our custody," but wouldn't confirm exactly when he was released. They also wouldn't confirm exactly why he was arrested.
The report states that undercover Laguna Beach detectives and DEA agents were working on an investigation in Irvine on Tuesday morning when they recognized McCall. A warrant check revealed that he was wanted. McCall's bail was set for $16,500, according to the same report.
It's now come through that while no longer in the custody of the Laguna Beach Police Department, Ian McCall is still under police detainment at another facility. He's expected to be held at the Orange County Central Men's jail for until his hearing on September 13. Ariel Helwani reports that, for now, McCall is only being charged for driving under a suspended license.
The 125 lb. tournament competitor was last seen losing a very close fought decision to Demetrious Johnson at UFC On FX 3. He was expected to appear against John Moraga at UFC On Fox 4, but was forced to pull out of the fight due to injury.
