In the co-main event of UFC 150, Melvin Guillard and Donald Cerrone squeezed a lot of action into a 76-second fight. Cerrone came back from a major scare to bomb Guillard with a head kick, and used a huge right to put him away. The bout won fight of the night, and Cerrone won knockout of the night as well.
Guillard got off to a very fast start, catching Cerrone with a punch to the head and a body shot that had him badly hurt. He was able to weather the storm though, and once he got his senses back, he put Guillard down. The bout took place in Cerrone's hometown as well, which added to the atmosphere.
What was the high point of the fight?
The entire fight was the high point. There was barely any down time.
Where do they go from here?
Cerrone's path is clear - he will take on former WEC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis next with a possible UFC title shot on the line. He called out Pettis earlier this year and Pettis has accepted.
Who knows where Guillard goes from here. He could settle into the gatekeeper role of the lightweight division, or they could just use him for exciting, if slightly irrelevant matchups. I personally would love to see him fight Edson Barboza next.
