Quinton Jackson has talked a lot about wanting to leave the UFC after the last fight on his contract. He had been expected to rematch Mauricio Rua, but he ended up getting double knee surgery and the bout was scrapped. Instead, it appears that he'll take on a guy that Shogun was very reluctant to face - Glover Teixeira.

They'll throw down at UFC 153 in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. Brazilian sports giant Globo is the one confirming the news. The card is expected to take place on October 13th.

Jackson (32-10) has been out of action since a loss to Ryan Bader at UFC 144, where he missed weight. As stated above, he has been highly critical of the UFC of late, and this bout might be his swansong in the organization. Teixeira (18-2) made a big splash in his UFC debut by taking out Kyle Kingsbury in under two minutes at UFC 146.

The bout is clearly going to take place on the main card, and could possibly be the co-main event behind a UFC heavyweight title rematch between Junior dos Santos and Cain Velasquez. That remains to be seen, but this is an excellent addition to the third card in Rio.
