Brian Stann Would Like To Meet Michael Bisping At UFC 152

Brian Stann was supposed to be facing Hector Lombard in the main event of UFC on Fox 4, but an injury forced him out of that big opportunity. He won't be on the shelf for too long though, and with Lombard already getting re-booked, he has one opponent in mind for his next matchup - Michael Bisping. He even knows when he'd like the fight to go down - UFC 152 in Toronto. Stann talked to MMA Weekly about the possible fight:

"I think that’s a fight that I need to jump at because he’s obviously ranked higher than I am. He’s a guy that’s right up there in the mix for a title shot, which is what we all want. Of course I want to fight Michael Bisping," Stann told MMA Weekly on Wednesday.

"He’s a star in the UFC, he makes big time money, he’s got everything that everybody else wants, and he’s earned it. So I want to take that. I saw the interview and I know my shoulder will be ready for Sept. 22 in Toronto (UFC 152) and that would be a great honor to put that fight on for the fans."

He also discussed a possible bout with Alan Belcher, but thought Bisping was a better option for him:

"He’s the biggest star in England and with my background here in America, it’s just a fitting storyline going into a fight. Alan Belcher’s a fantastic fighter, he’s a great guy, but I just personally think the fight between me and Bisping would attract more attention," Stann stated.

While the bout would be an outstanding addition to UFC 152, it would be in a precarious position on the card. The card has no main event and a solid co-main event at the moment (Rory MacDonald vs. B.J. Penn). A Stann/Bisping fight is a surefire main event for a smaller card or co-main for a big card, but I'm not sure if it really fits in the three spot on a PPV unless they decide to make Penn/Rory Mac the main event and this the co-main. Which probably wouldn't be a good idea. We'll just have to see how it all plays out.
