Olympics 2012: New Survey Shows Surprising Support For MMA As An Olympic Sport

A new survey has been released by Yahoo! Sports that shows surprisingly strong American support for mixed martial arts as an Olympic support. According to the survey, 25% of Americans think MMA should be included in the Olympics. Other sports people want to see in the Olympics are:

Yahoo! and Ipsos MediaCT conducted the survey in May of 2012. The online quantitative survey was fielded among 2,000 U.S. adults ages 18-64 who are representative of the U.S. online adult population.

Fans shouldn't get too excited. This survey is just of American sports fans and only a quarter of those support MMA as an Olympic sport. The Olympics are overrun with events and wanna-be events. MMA as an Olympic sport remains many years away.
