UFC 149 Results: Matt Riddle Submits Chris Clements Late

Matt Riddle defeated Chris Clements by submission (arm triangle choke) at 2:02 of round three

Matt Riddle controlled Chris Clements on the ground throughout the fight, but it was a submission that he locked up on the feet that finished their UFC 149 welterweight bout. Clements missed a spinning back fist and spun right into a standing arm triangle, which Riddle locked up nicely and quickly finished it on the mat. It was a stellar performance from Riddle.

Riddle got a nice trip takedown early in the first, but Clements got right back up. Clements landed some nice elbows inside, and an uppercut. Riddle hurt Clements with a liver kick, but referee Josh Rosenthal thought it was a low blow and briefly stopped the bout. Riddle got another takedown and worked on the ground for a bit. He took his back briefly, but transitioned back to the top. He then let Clements up before the end of the round.

Clements started the second with some punches and a spinning back fist. Riddle got a takedown against the cage, then transitioned to the back and got a body triangle. He looked for a choke and landed a few punches to the head. Clements landed a nice back elbow. Clements finally got back to his feet with a minute to go. Clements landed a big body kick and another spinning attack. Riddle failed on a takedown and Clements opened up on top to end the second.

The fighters hugged to start the third. Clements opened up quickly with a big right and some elbows against the cage. Riddle landed a big head kick while Clements was spinning. Riddle scooped up a single and took it to the mat. Out of nowhere back on the feet, Riddle locked up a standing arm triangle, then tripped Clements to the mat in side control and Clements tapped.
