The Korean Zombie, Chan Sung Jung, looked to be on his his way to a UFC featherweight title shot after his thrilling win over Dustin Poirier at UFC on Fuel 3 in May. But now it looks like he's going to be on the shelf for a while. According to MMA Fighting, KZ will be undergoing shoulder surgery next week that will cause him to miss out on the UFC's debut in Macau:

While it appeared to be a virtual lock that "The Korean Zombie" would compete on the UFC's debut in China in November, sources close to the fighter have informed MMAFighting.com that Jung has instead decided to undergo shoulder surgery next week to correct an issue that has been plaguing him for quite some time.

Other than missing out on the Macau show, now is probably as good a time as any to get this done. Jose Aldo's fight with Erik Koch has been postponed due to an Aldo injury, so Jung wasn't going to get his title shot anytime soon. And with Hatsu Hioki losing to Ricardo Lamas, there isn't even a solid alternative bout for Jung if he didn't get the title shot.

Either way, we'll just have to live without a Zombie in our lives for the rest of the year.
