Yes, tonight is the UFC's return to Fox with a card that should be great fun. But the biggest event in combat sports this weekend is absolutely Floyd Mayweather vs. Miguel Cotto live on HBO pay-per-view from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. I'll be here to bring you live round-by-round results (and fight-by-fight results for the undercard) tonight.
I have been covering the fight in depth at SBNation.com this week, so you can catch up on all the news from fight week in that Story Stream.
The pay-per-view starts at 9 p.m. ET with Cotto and Mayweather hitting the ring at roughly midnight.
The full PPV card looks like this:
WBA Junior Middleweight Championship: Miguel Cotto (c) vs. Floyd Mayweather
WBC Junior Middleweight Championship: Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (c) vs. "Sugar" Shane Mosley
Junior Welterweight Bout: Jessie Vargas vs. Steve Forbes
Junior Middleweight Bout: Deandre Latimore vs. Carlos Quintana
Make sure to check back at fight time and follow along with the action.
The PPV is now live. Results will be after the jump.
First fight up will be Deandre Latimore vs. Carlos Quintana.
Carlos Quintana outworked and landed hard shots throughout the fight, pulling off a minor upset by knocking out Latimore in the sixth round.
Jessie Vargas vs. Steve Forbes will be the next bout.
Jessie Vargas defeated heavy underdog Steve Forbes by unanimous decision (100-90, 97-93 and 98-92)
Saul "Canelo" Alvarez vs. "Sugar" Shane Mosley is up next.
Canelo Alvarez punished Mosley with huge power punches throughout the bout, winning the fight on the cards 119-109, 118-110 and 119-109.
The main event between Floyd Mayweather and Miguel Cotto will be up next and I'll have live round-by-round thoughts on that fight.
Round 1 - Mayweather likely wins the round after using a quick jab and lead right hand. But, Miguel did manage to land a combination against the ropes and wasn't blown out in the round.
Round 2 - Good round with Cotto trapping Floyd against the ropes, but Floyd likely did enough firing back to win the round. It's a good action fight through two rounds though.
Round 3 - The first round I saw for Cotto, although Mayweather still may have won it for the judges. But Cotto did good work against the ropes and landed a nice jab throughout the round.
Round 4 - Very good round for Mayweather as he landed power right hands to Cotto and stopped him from coming forward. Cotto did do a little damage and drew blood from Floyd's nose, but a clear Floyd round.
Round 5 - HBO gave the round to Cotto as he did good work but Mayweather still fought effectively and won the round in my eyes.
Round 6 - Jab from Cotto has blood flowing from Floyd's nose again and he is doing very good work. Floyd is chasing now, but this is a very competitive fight with Floyd actually looking a bit tired.
Round 7 - Floyd takes control again in my eyes with a nice right hand and jab. But Cotto is still there, working hard.
Round 8 - Cotto's best round fo the fight. Great work for Cotto, landing hard shots throughout the round.
Round 9 - Strong Mayweather round but Cotto has his moments as well. I have Floyd up 3 points to this point but it's been a great, great fight.
Round 10 - Good round that I had Cotto stealing on a late flurry to end the round making it a 2 point fight with 2 rounds left.
Round 11 - Good comeback round for Floyd. Cotto fought him well but Mayweather did enough to take the round with his right hand as Cotto faded a bit.
Round 12 - Mayweather hurts Cotto badly in the round but doesn't get the finish.
Official scores: Floyd Mayweather wins by scores of 117-111, 118-110 and 117-111
