It appears that most fighters escaped from their UFC 133 fights unscathed. The Pennsylvania State Athletic Commission sent out the list of medical suspensions today, and just seven fighters on the card made the list. Six of them were guys that lost their fights on the card, but the one winner that made the list (Rafael Natal) apparently has the most severe injury. Here are the seven fighters and how long they're out for:
Tito Ortiz: Suspended 45 days for precautionary reasons
Yoshihiro Akiyama: Suspended 60 days due to possible head injuries; must have a neurological exam before returning to competition
Dennis Hallman: Suspended 45 days for precautionary reasons
Mike Pyle: Suspended 45 days for precautionary reasons
Matt Hamill: Suspended 45 days for precautionary reasons
Rafael Natal: Suspended indefinitely due to a right-hand injury; must have hand cleared by a physician before returning to competition
Paul Bradley: Suspended for 30 days for a left-knee injury; must be cleared by a physician before returning to competition
One glaring omissions from this list is Chad Mendes, who said that he heard his hand "pop" in the first round of his fight with Rani Yahya. If his hand is indeed fine, that's very good news for his hopes of facing the winner of the UFC featherweight title fight between champion Jose Aldo and challenger Kenny Florian at UFC 136.
