UFC 129 Results Recap: Jason MacDonald vs Ryan Jensen

Middleweight Jason MacDonald used a clever hammerlock to set up a triangle choke that finished Ryan Jensen at 1:37 of the first round at UFC 129.

What was the high spot of this fight?

MacDonald's slick submission provided the perfect crescendo for a nice little fight.

Where do these guys go from here?

MacDonald turns 36 in June. He shattered his leg badly in his UFC 113 loss to John Salter and had to rehab it for almost a full year. He's 1-1 in his current UFC run, 6-6 in his history with the promotion. What I'm saying here is he remains a dangerous UFC journeyman who'll probably never contend for the title but remains a threat to submit anyone who finds themselves in the cage with him. Expect to see MacDonald next time the UFC returns to Canada.

This loss drops Jensen to 2-4 in his current UFC run. If I was his business manager I'd be awaiting the pink slip from Joe Silva and the UFC. Jensen's 33 years old, might be time for one last run through the regional promotions.

Watch it now, later, or never?

Watch it now, it's a thoroughly enjoyable fight. If you are Jensen's BJJ coach you might want to watch it a few times.
