The first time Chris Lytle met Matt Brown, he submitted Brown in the second round. Lytle looked to repeat that very same finish in the UFC rematch.
The first round unfolded much slower than what might have been expected from these two on paper. They traded power shots on the feet, but most of the fight was spent on the ground or in the clinch. Brown locked on a D'arce choke toward the end of the round, but it never looked fully applied and Lytle escaped after some patient moments.
The two picked up where they left off in the second frame. This time, however, Lytle found himself mounted on top of Brown. It looked like he would finish the bout exactly like their first with a mounted guillotine.
Lytle lost the position, though Brown found himself trapped in a reverse triangle from mount. With Brown's right arm isolated, Lytle worked for a finish, eventually securing a straight armbar submission.
