Sean McCorkle talked a lot of smack before his fight with Stefan Struve, but he ate his words in the cage as the young Dutchman got on top and beat the American down in the first round.
Sean McCorkle quickly put Stefan Struve on his back and immediately went for a kimura shoulder lock. Struve contorted through some very uncomfortable positions before getting his arm free. Struve fought back to guard. McCorckle began landing hard shots from the top. Struve rolled for an arm bar but McCorkle broke free. He went for a canopener neck crank briefly but then Struve went for a kimura. Struve swept to the top position, got mount and began landing hard bombs until referee Yves Lavigne stopped the fight.
The 22 year-old Struve came into UFC 124 with a 4-2 UFC record, losing to Roy Nelson and top contender Junior dos Santos.
The 34 year-old McCorkle was 1-0 in the UFC and known for his knack for internet trash talking.
