It's days like this where I smile at those who stereotype MMA fighters and hurl caricatures of the sport in public discussions.
Aaron Stark, IFL light heavyweight, is also the manager of a vineyard and does us the honor of making some excellent wine recommendations for Mothers' Day. To wit:
- Didier Dagenau - this Sauvignon Blanc is the Featherweight of the bunch, very light and perfect for this time of year, and often preferred by women, especially moms
- Beaux Freres - a Pino Noir from an Oregon vineyard with floral characteristics. It's the lightweight of wines, more feminine and fun
- Soter Vineyards Sparkling Wine - The Jiu-Jitsu of wines, it may look tame but look out for this deceptive vintage that packs a serious sting if you're not careful
- JJ Prum - a German Riesling, Mom will enjoy grappling with this exceptionally sweet wine which is still serious and complex
You may not know this, but basically my entire family is in the wine business except for me. They have two stores, a soon-to-be-open wine bar, and their own line of wine. If you'd like to shop there, you can do so online here. Check out their blog here.
Update [2008-5-7 12:30:59 by Luke Thomas]:: After sending Stark's recommendations to my sister - the CEO of kybecca - for perusal, she offers the following:
"That is crazy. The wines he chose happen to be really great by the way, we carry at least two."
