The statement comes courtesy of a meet-and-greet with fans:
"I want to fight again, hopefully as soon as March or April," Guida said sitting inside a mini octagon cage in the center of the store. "It's a new year and my resolution is to take the title in '08 and be back and better than ever."
I don't think his chances of ever wearing UFC gold are high, but that isn't really the point. The point is two-fold: Guida looks to be back on the horse mentally after the devastating loss to Roger Huerta and his mental attitude is exactly what's required to keep competing at the UFC level. Just because you think you can be champion doesn't mean you will, but if you don't think you can be you'll never attain those heights. Guida is a believer in himself and that's refreshing to see after the ups and downs he's experienced. Here's to an exciting 2008 for "The Carpenter".
