Tito Ortiz to Star as Contestant on Tonight's "Celebrity Apprentice" on NBC

I know, I completely forgot this was coming, too. For a guy as popular as Ortiz and for a show that's been heavily hyped by NBC, the buzz isn't that strong for this show. Is it because shows that feature "celebrity" as a descriptor usually involve C-list actors and other reality show washouts? Probably, but here are the details nevertheless:

Heavyweight boxing champion Lennox Lewis, KISS frontman Gene Simmons, Olympic gold medal gymnast Nadia Comaneci, Playboy playmate and International Fight League reporter Tiffany Fallon and actor Stephen Baldwin will all compete to raise $1 million for their chosen charity throughout the season. The winner of "Apprentice's" seventh season will also earn a $250,000 bonus check to present to their cause.

Ortiz will compete for the world-famous St. Jude's Research Hospital. The polarizing 33-year-old fighter is no stranger to the business world. Ortiz established his clothing line, Punishment Athletics, in 1999 and turned it into a multi-million dollar company in six years.

You have to give Tito some credit here: he does a TON of charity work, if not for sick kids then certainly for the armed forces. Obviously Tito is promoting himself and his Punishment Athletics clothing line, but he's entitled to a little self-promotion.

Also, Tiffany Fallon - the IFL's hot girl who does something or other - will be a contestant on the show as well. It's good to see MMA being so heavily represented and who knows if this will lead to NBC being warmed over to do more MMA-related programming. I also want to see if Tiffany's appearance does anything for the struggling IFL organization. I'm not sure if I'll watch tonight, but I might take a sneak peek at some point.
