Smart Money Bets for UFC 80

Please don't gamble. But if you must do it at BetUs where I got these odds. And be sure and enter the AnyGivenSaturday/BloodyElbow/BetUS contest to win free moneys to wager with. As always, keep in mind that my bets aren't necessarily the same as my picks -- there's a little thing called odds-making that determines where I puts my moneys.

Virtually every fight on this card is treated as a mismatch by the odds-makers. In some cases they're right -- you could give me Joe Daddy +500 and I still wouldn't bet against B.J. (acutal odds, B.J. -290, Joe +235).

Fabricio Werdum is a bit more of a nail-biter at +250 against Gabriel Gonzaga at -325. Certainly don't have enough faith in Napao to bet on him at -325, but Werdum is only tempting me a little bit even with the odds due to his terrible wrestling. The dude just can't get the fight on the ground where he wants it. But if the line gets above +300 for Werdum, I'll jump on it.

I'm taking a pass on the rest of the main card, although betting on Jess Liaudan against Marcus Davis will be sorely tempting if the line gets above +350.

But the real money is on the undercard. The smart money thrives on ignorance and the mix of randoms on the undercard provides much opportunity. Taking proven grappler Per Eklund at +260 is a no brainer against the one-dimensional striker Sam Stout. Place this bet, you'll thank me when Eklund takes Stout down and submits him in the first 90 seconds.

The other bright shining opportunity on the undercard is James Lee +140. True, the guy is untested against serious competition, but he's fighting Alessio Sakara, not serious competition. Plus Lee's wrestling base is custom made for dismantling Sakara.

Remember, don't gamble, it's a sin and it will ruin your life. But if you must, use BetUs.com and be sure and enter the Bloody Elbow/AnyGivenSaturday contest so you'll have some scratch to bet.
