Couture, "Operation: All In" Raise $90,000

Couture's image has been tarnished of late with what some fans describe as many-grubbing aspirations. I think there is some truth to the matter, but what Couture represents is, on some level, not so much generosity as genuineness. Despite the success and fame, you never really get the sense that Randy has lost sight of the more important values and priorities. Which is why it's good to hear the charity poker tournament he held recently has done so well. Maybe we'll get to see another one next year. Notable quote:

The organization was founded after Couture and his wife, Kim, visited multiple veterans' hospitals nationwide. A six-year Army veteran himself, Couture also traveled to Iraq in the summer of 2006 to support the troops. Couture and his wife, Kim, started the foundation to support what he calls "those who have made the ultimate sacrifice."

90k is a drop in the bucket, but obviously we are more rewarding the gesture than the actual winning sum being distributed. But I was in the Marines and I visited Walter Reed Army Medical Hospital. When I tell you I've never seen profound sadness quite like that anywhere else in my life, I am not exaggerting. And this is coming from a guy born in India. Whatever Couture's faults and whatever boon to his business and image this may do, any effort to help those young men and women gets a thumbs up from me. Paycheck squabbles with Dana White be damned.
