The grind continues in Superior, Wisconsin, but the good news is their heads are in the right place:
Options the committee tossed around included adopting a local ordinance to regulate ultimate fighting in Superior, urging the legislature to adopt regulations or banning the sport in Superior until the state adopts regulations.
"In my mind, regulation at the state level would be much more effective," Peters said.
Committee members decided to refer the matter to the city's attorney to research options for regulating ultimate fighting. The matter is on hold until that research is complete.
"What we don't want is poorly run ... no safety -- every Class B liquor licensed establishment having Friday night fights," Peters said.
Necessity is the mother of invention, so the city council is forced to address the issue head on. Luckily, they realize the popularity of the sport necessitates action if not love of the game. But beggars can't be choosers. I'll take it for now.
