One of Asia's longest running promotions hosted another event this past weekend with the Universal Reality Combat Championship having the first installment their 'URCC: Fight Night' series.
Separate from their numbered major events or provincial shows, last Friday's card was a bit more low-key, and had 4 fights on the line up. It was considered as a pilot event for what is targeted to be a regular series which would run multiple times a month. Designed to get prospects and mid-level fighters more experience and ring time, these events could be a good way to get the local Filipino fighters much needed seasoning in preparation for bigger challenges.
After battling through adversity early, Meshaal Al-Khuzeem (3-0) and Hideo Morikawa (6-3) both picked up quality stoppage wins on the featured bouts of the evening. Jay-R Bermoy also stood out as he started the night out with a brutal one-punch knockout within the opening seconds of his preliminary bout.
BloodyElbow.com was on deck at the BAMF MMA Center in Paranaque, Philippines, and seen above are photos from the event.
