UFC fighter rankings: Benavidez out, Smith moves back up at light heavyweight

There weren’t many changes in the rankings coming out of the most recent UFC Vegas event.

The fourth straight UFC Vegas event that went down last weekend may have been the least relevant of them all. Not many ranked fighters were on the card, and half the fights going to decision meant there wasn’t a lot to take away from it.

With that being said, headliner Anthony Smith’s big victory over Ryan Spann pushed him back up the rankings a bit at 205 pounds and got him back into title contention. And from the undercard, Raquel Pennington made her way back onto the 135-pound list.

The most changes came at flyweight, due to the retirement of multi-time title challenger Joseph Benavidez and his subsequent removal from the 125-pound list.

Here’s a look at the changes this week.

Men’s P4P - No changes.

Heavyweight - No changes.

Light Heavyweight - Smith is up two spots to four, bumping former title challengers Thiago Santos and Dominick Reyes down one each to five and six.

Middleweight - No changes.

Welterweight - No changes.

Lightweight - Arman Tsarukyan rises one spot to 13 following his win over the weekend. Rafael Fiziev is down one to 14.

Featherweight - No changes.

Bantamweight - Raulian Paiva enters at 15.

Flyweight - Benavidez had been sitting at the five spot. Everyone below him moved up one spot to compensate for his removal. Tagir Ulanbekov enters the rankings for the first time at 15.

Women’s P4P - Yan Xiaonan drops from a tie for 13 with Lauren Murphy to take over 14 on her own.

Women’s Bantamweight - Raquel Pennington re-enters the rankings at ten following her hard-fought win over Pannie Kianzad. Macy Chiasson and Lina Lansberg fall one each to 11 and 12. Julia Avila is down two to 14. Karol Rosa is down one to 15.

Women’s Flyweight - No changes.

Women’s Strawweight - No changes.
