Tito Ortiz and Anderson Silva are scheduled to box tomorrow night at Triller Fight Club underneath the main event of Evander Holyfield vs. Vitor Belfort. However, ‘The Huntington Beach Bad Boy’ almost threw a wrench in the works when he came in heavy at the official weigh-ins today.

Silva and Ortiz are supposed to face each other in a 195 lbs catchweight bout, but Ortiz tipped the scales at 200 lbs. Silva came in within that limit. You can see that moment below:

It’s not a big surprise considering that Ortiz had said repeatedly that he expects to not make weight for the contest and that he felt the set catchweight limit was unfair.

Despite Ortiz following through and missing weight it seems, for now, that the bout with Silva will go ahead. MMA Fighting’s Mike Heck is on the ground in Florida. Silva told him that he is “disappointed” that Ortiz made weight but that the fight will still happen.

It’s unknown what backroom negotiations have gone on to ensure the fight remains in place. However, it is believed that Ortiz will suffer a hefty penalty for missing weight.

Silva’s last boxing bout also featured an opponent who missed weight. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. forfeited a reported $100,000 over to Silva for missing a 182 lbs target. Silva went on to win that bout by split decision.
