Conor McGregor is back at it on Twitter, and this time the Irishman wanted to remind Dustin Poirier of the time he bounced his head off the canvas ‘like a basketball’ in their first matchup at UFC 178.

McGregor first baited Poirier by posting a video of the latter describing a street fight he got into with a stranger who started touching his wife.

And then, after Poirier took the bait, McGregor went into attack mode.

“Ye pal live on that one way back, I will too. I bounced your head off the canvas like a basketball. Your wife bro. The dm’s. Elbows into your dome. The soft part of the skull that doesn’t harden ever. From when you’re a baby. Drilled into your skull at 100mph. U slept on my bell,” McGregor, who lost the second two fights to Poirier to finish off their trilogy 1-2, replied.

The two continued to trade barbs but it was McGregor who —rather predictably — had to have the last word.

McGregor did win their first fight in impressive fashion, finishing Poirier via first-round TKO, but that was over six years ago and back when both men used to compete at featherweight. At lightweight, McGregor is 0-2 against Poirier, losing both fights via stoppage.

McGregor suffered a devastating, potentially career-threatening injury after breaking his leg against Poirier in their trilogy bout at UFC 264 but appears to be making a much speedier recovery than anticipated. He is expected to return to the octagon next year, likely towards the end of 2022.
