As expected UFC 264 turned out to be a huge success on pay-per-view, with the event selling 1.8 million buys.
John Ourand of the Sports Business Journal reports that 1.3 million of the buys were sold in the United States on ESPN+, with an additional 500,000 sold internationally. The preliminary fights were also watched by 1.6 million viewers, making it ESPN’s most-viewed program on Saturday.
The success of UFC 264 is yet another example of McGregor’s star power for the promotion. ‘Notorious’ has headlined all five of the highest-selling pay-per-view cards in UFC history. McGregor was also involved in the second highest-selling pay-per-view in boxing history, with his 2017 fight against Floyd Mayweather doing 4.3 million buys.
