UFC 264 suspensions: Conor McGregor potentially out for six months

The former two-division champion is unlikely to fight again in 2021.

Conor McGregor is one of six fighters from UFC 264 facing a lengthy medical suspension.

The former two-division champion broke his tibia toward the end of his third fight against Dustin Poirier, who completed the trilogy with a record of 2-1. McGregor underwent a three-hour hour surgery the day after to repair the broken tibia and is in the process of recovering. He is expected to be on crutches for the next 6 weeks and appears to be entirely focused on his eventual return to the Octagon, but that may not come for a while.

Medical suspensions from the event were released by mixedmartialarts.com on Tuesday morning and McGregor sits at the top of the list with a potential suspension of six months, meaning we may not see the ‘Notorious’ one fight again until next year. He will need clearance from an orthopedic doctor or remain out until January.

The full list of suspensions can be seen below:

Conor McGregor (fractured left leg): Must receive clearance from orthopedic doctor or no contest until Jan. 7. Minimum suspension/no contest until Aug. 25 and no contact until Aug. 10

Stephen Thompson: Suspended until Aug. 10 and no contact until Aug. 1

Greg Hardy (left orbital fracture and fractured nose): Must receive clearance from ophthalmalogist and Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) doctor or no contest until Jan. 7. Minimum suspension/no contest until Aug. 25 and no contact until Aug. 10

Yana Kunitskaya (fractured nose): Must receive clearance from ENT doctor or no contest until Jan. 7. Minimum suspension/no contest until Aug. 25 and no contact until Aug. 10

Sean O’Malley (both hands, left tibia and right foot): Must get X-rays on both hands to rule out fractures. Left tibia and right foot also require X-rays. Should results of X-rays come back positive, clearance from orthopedic doctor is needed or no contest until Jan. 7. Minimum suspension/no contest until Aug. 10 and no contact until Aug. 1

Kris Moutinho: Suspended until Sept. 9 and no contact until Aug. 25

Max Griffin (left knee and left shin pain): Suspended until Aug. 10 and no contact until Aug. 1

Carlos Condit (left upper lip cut): Suspended until Aug. 10 and no contact until Aug. 1

Michel Pereira: Suspended until Aug. 10 and no contact until Aug. 1

Niko Price (left elbow swelling): Suspended until Aug. 10 and no contact until Aug. 1

Ryan Hall (fractured left hand): Must receive clearance from orthopedic doctor or no contest until Jan. 7. Minimum suspension/no contest until Aug. 25 and no contact until Aug. 10.

Dricus Du Plessis: Suspended until Aug. 10 and no contact until Aug. 1

Trevin Giles: Suspended until Aug. 25 and no contact until Aug. 10

Jessica Eye (forehead laceration): Suspended until Aug. 25 and no contact until Aug. 10

Brad Tavares: Suspended until Aug. 10 and no contact until Aug. 1

Omari Akhmedov (nose fracture): Must receive clearance from ENT doctor or no contest until Jan. 7. Minimum suspension/no contest until Aug. 10 and no contact until Aug. 1
