Undisputed world boxing champion Claressa Shields survived the grappling of Brittney Elkin at PFL 4 to pick up a third round stoppage win in her MMA debut.

Shields was winging some heavy overhands early that came up short, as Elkin took the boxing champ down with ease after just a minute into the fight. The BJJ brown belt Elkin dominated on top for the entirety of the first round but Shields did a good job of defending whilst mounted.

The second round was much the same as Elkin continued to try and seek submissions from mount. Shields started to land some heavy ground and pound at the end of the round as it seemed Elkin was starting to gas.

Shields did a good job of sprawling in the third round to fight off Elkins’ takedowns. A visibly exhausted Elkin desperately tried to hold on but Shields threw down some heavy ground and pound to secure the stoppage win.

Also on the card Brendan Loughnane extended his impressive winning streak with a war of a decision against Tyler Diamond and former UFC veteran Olivier Aubin-Mercier picked up his first PFL win against Marcin Held.
