The UFC 262 co-main event just witnessed the company’s #9 ranked lightweight, Beneil Dariush, dominate the former interim champion, Tony Ferguson, for three full rounds in a dominant decision win. This fight was pretty much all Dariush all the time, as he bested Ferguson in all facets of the sport. This puts Beneil on a seven-fight winning streak, and in his post-fight interview he asked for a title eliminator for hi next outing.
Dariush was focused on drilling his southpaw left cross right away. He was also attacking the legs of Ferguson, all while putting a ton of pressure on the former interim champ. Dariush hit a takedown and put Tony on his back, dropping hammers when he found space. Ferguson kept working to improve his position, but Beneil stayed a step ahead to stay on top for the rest of the round.
Dariush shot in immediately in the second round, but found himself fighting off a D’arce attempt. Beneil remained calm and waited for his moment to escape, into top position no less. Several ground strikes scored for Beneil before Ferguson swept him. Dariush switched for a leg lock, causing Ferguson to scream out in pain, but somehow Tony escaped. Dariush closed the distance again in the final round, fading top position after Ferguson threatened with a guillotine. Ferguson was stuck on the bottom again without any answers. Dariush controlled and neutralized Tony until the bell once again.
